Dr. Ken Yaegaki

 
 
 

Dr. Ken Yaegaki, DDS., Ph.D. - Following obtaining his DDS degree in Japan in 1979, Dr. Yaegaki entered the residency program in maxillofacial surgery at Kurume University in Japan and graduated in 1983. Later, he became interested in the basic sciences of dentistry and successfully defended a Ph.D. thesis on the biochemistry of salivary glands. He is currently a full time professor and director of the Breath Testing Clinic at UBC. He also holds several joint and visiting professorship positions with the dental and medical faculties of universities in Japan such as Nippon, Kyusyu, Kurume, Tsurumi, and Tohoku. Dr. Yaegaki has published extensively on the cause of bad breath and continues his research on the topic at UBC. He is a consultant to companies making dental products such as Wrigley, and conducting research for Arm & Hammer. His clinical interests are oral surgery, oral malodor, geriatric and restorative dentistry.

Professor Yaegaki returned to Japan and took over a position as the Chair, Department of Oral Health, at Nippon Dental University in Tokyo.  We wish him well and great success in his teaching and research.
