Emergency Dental Care

At Scident Family Dental Clinic, we always try to accommodate our patient's dental emergencies on the same day.  Please specify to our staff the nature of your dental emergency and details of your toothache i.e. where?, which tooth?, when?, how intense?  Such information helps us prepare better for your emergency dental treatment before you arrive.  The followings are common dental emergency treatments that our office offers:

Toothache Pain Relief – Toothache can be caused by a variety of factors, including cavities, gum disease, cracked or broken teeth, exposed roots, chewing muscle spasms and jaw joint disease. A thorough examination that includes x-rays can help determine the cause.

Loose or Fallen-off Crowns- You may find yourself in an embarrassing situation when those old front crowns become loose or totally fallen off.  We will accommodate such dental needs usually on the same day.

Abscess Treatment- An abscess is a collection of pus that has accumulated in the tooth or oral soft tissue as a response to bacteria, parasites or other foreign materials. It is a defensive reaction of the body to prevent the spread of infection. Abscess treatment typically involves draining the pus and prescribing antibiotics.

Emergency Extractions- A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. If tooth decay has destroyed so much tooth structure as to prevent restoration, then an extraction may be required.

Sport Dental Injuries- Dental injuries due to high impact sport can results in serious damages to soft and hard oral tissues.  Common complications may include broken or avulsed teeth, and deep laceration of soft oral tissue.  These injuries should be attended as quickly as possible to prevent future severe infection.
